As I read this post I started to get mad. My face got hot, then as I started thinking about it, I realized that I agree with Mrs. Moon. My babies are the world to me. I will have a big problem when they do go. But, I also will love the time they are here and fill as many hours as I can bringing them happiness in return for the love and joy they bring me. I know I am a ferret owner and never even been to a shelter (there are none close). I feel like I should support Judy Moon's statement. If I could spend $500 for one surgery that cleared this up right away, I would. But I couldn't put my sweet, sweet, babies through months, or even years of pain and suffering. I love the fact that people do have shelters, but I think that is a choice people make to do, and to be responsible, I think they should have the finances backed up, and not wait on donations. The true problem to shelters is selling ferrets to anyone. People should be screened more. i.e. the little girl who came to get a hamster and left with a ferret with a 10 gallon aquarium to keep him/her in. Shelters are a wonderful thing, but I agree that so much time and money shouldn't be put in on a suffering ferret with little hope. Especially when you don't have the money all ready in the bank waiting for you. Brandy [Posted in FML issue 2518]
