You may or may not remember that I had posted a message about my having decided to put out my ferrets for adoption. (see: Fairness for Ferrets...) After having received a few offers (and only one message from someone who felt the need to judge me blindly - thanx Brandy), I have had the luck of finding someone who is willing to adopt my four fuzzies...as a family :o) (thanx Keith!) Since having posted my original message, I keep finding myself looking at my fuzzy friends and wondering if there isn't someway to keep them. These guys (and one gal) have been there with me through the good times and the bad. Always coming up with some prank or blunder that provokes a smile from my lips, and sometimes a chuckle. Sure, they have their weaknesses... raisins, unguarded corners, my kid's small toys... but hey, who doesn't. I really feel that finding them a home, and person, that will better their lives is the most logical and fairest for them. I would just like thank everyone who replied about Shawnee's weak back legs. Some of the suggestions were enlightening. Shawnee will be visiting the Vet soon to try to determine exactly what the problem is. I tend to think that it is NOT due to the amount of time he spends in the cage, as he usually is out more hours of the day, and night, than in. Shawnee came to me in this condition from people who certainly seemed thoughtful and caring. I could not even suspect ill-treatment from that home. My guess would be that either he has one of the diseases mentioned (insulinoma ?) or that he had sustained an injury earlier in his life ( maybe he had been stepped upon) I'll let you all know when I find out; as I know that other ferret enthusiasts are always eager to soak up information ;o) peace. -Mike Downey & The Furry Four!
