Hello. I have written a few times recently about my little fertie boy, Bhut, and his possible lymphoma. The vet treating him has always been and remains sure that this is most likely thymic dependent lymphoma, but when we did an ultrasound, a biospsy/aspirate wasn't possible, so we are still just "guessing". The tumor or mass on ultrasound appeared to be encompassing a major vein or artery and both vets present said it would be too risky to try to obtain a sample. Anyway, since I found out that Bhut may have lymphoma, I have been researching all possible treatments. I hadn't found anything on my own, but yesterday, I was told of a study in dogs that suggests that high levels of omega-3 fatty acids does shrink certain types of tumors. I was told that the dogs in the study were fed Science Diet's new cancer formula along with supplements of the omega-3 fatty acids. Unfortunately, I have not read the article myself, so I don't know any details. Has anyone else heard of this study? Any similar studies in ferrets? Another question is what would the best source of omega-3 fatty acids be? I have a product that I use for my dogs called Derm Caps that seems like it may be a good source, but I don't know enough about it to be sure. Any ideas? I am currently feeding a mixture of TF, Eukanuba Kitten, and Science Diet C/D.......I know the Eukanuba contains a small amount of the omega-3 fatty acids, but probably not enough. Thanks in advance!
