A long time ago on the FML there was plenty of discussion about what the
word "ferret" is in many other languages. Is there a web site listing all
these translations?

Specifically, I am looking for the Scots-Gaelic word for ferret. We have
bought a new place in Plant City, FL, and my husband has consented to name
the property with a ferret word, as long as it is Scots-Gaelic, to be
attached to the word "glen."

Thanks, Erika and the dirty dozen

Moderator's note: In late 1995 Bob Church asked FMLers what nicknames they
use to refer to their ferrets. In January of 1996 he compiled the very
large list of responses and it is available from the FML archives. This
list also has translations of the word "ferret" into more than 20 other
languages. Plus some of the nicknames are quite funny too :-)

As per standard procedure for archives: email [log in to unmask]
and in the body of the email place the single line:
GET FERRET NICKNAME FERRET BIGŁ
