>(I ****WILL NOT**** do this to my Eddie) An understandable reaction. However...Microchipping your animal can be the best thing you ever do for your pets. I know of a 'happening' here in the Reno area that took place several years ago. An acquaintance 'lost' his cat, a very expensive breed called a 'Tiger'(??) Anywho, the cat was gone for 4 months when he got a call from the Carson City Sheriff's Dept (35 miles south of Reno) saying they had his cat and would he like to come get it. He was astounded until the story came out. He had had his cat 'chip'ed'. In time, after the cat went missing, it showed up at a vet in C.C and as a routine matter, all animals, in that vet practice, are scanned for chips and if found, the chip id is routinely entered into a computer database provided by the chip manufacturer. The cat's owner HAD reported the cat missing to his vet and his vet had entered the 'missing cat' data into the chip manufacturer's data base. The police were notified when the cat was 'found' and eventually, the rightful owner and the cat were reunited. The discomfort associated with chip insertion is minimal, but the potential rewards are great. The cost is minimal. I have all my valuable snakes chip'ed., (Over 20) and my furkids are chipped. Needless to say, I highly recommend the proceedure. MC, The Rude One [Posted in FML issue 2465]
