I went back to see the two ferrets left in their cage today, Lisa was home so I knocked on her door. She opened the door with the phone in her hand, I told her I would like to see the ferrets again, she told it would be all right. I then ask her what she does with the ferrets when it rains, we expect a lot of rain tonight. She told me she has brought them in, like during hurricane Georges! She told me there was a top she could put on the cage but it is being used as a catch all pan under the cage. I ask her if she had given any thought to giving or selling her ferrets and she told me "No" not at this time. So I walked to the cage and the male crawled out of the ball he has to play with, the female laid in the hammock. I took some ferret treats out of my purse, the male was not interested. He tried to lick my hand and would have let me pet him but I did not open the cage. The female finally got out of the hammock and took two treats from me. She is so sweet, one of her eyes looks like it has a glaze on it. She did not get excited to see me or the treats, she looks so depressed. There is nothing more I can do. I cried all the way home and I know when the rain starts tonight I will again will get upset knowing they are in the rain. If I ride by tonight and they are left in the rain I might see if the animal control will check into this for me. I do not know if leaving your animal in the rain is against the law. Any suggestions???? I have been so depressed over this I kind wish I had never seen them, they do not deserve to be treated like this. Maybe one day Lisa will want to release them to me. They belong to her two sons, the boys come home only on the weekends. Thanks to everyone that has e-mailed me with concern. This is breaking my heart! Hugs and dooks to all, Carol Oscar (I'm sad too mommy) Lilly (If your sad Oscar then I'm sad) [Posted in FML issue 2454]
