Re: Bob C: Q-N-A Vets >Q: "How can a vet justify charging me $20 for a shot that only costs them >$2.50? How can anyone afford those prices...." > >A: So your ferret is worth $2.50 but not $20? What are your kids worth? To add to Bob's info and to put the $20 for a vaccination and office visit in a slightly different perspective......if the vaccination costs $2.50, that leaves $17.50 leftover. Say your vet spent a half-hour with you and your ferret (rounded out to the next half-hour). That would mean that their hourly charge-out rate is $35.00. That's cheaper then any automobile mechanic in this area! Put in those terms, isn't it silly to say that $20 for the visit is a fleecing? Personally, I would gladly spend a higher per hour rate for vet visits then for automobile repair. My ferrets are family. My car is not. Re: flames >Come on, people. If you have evidence that contradicts mine, please >present it. That's what scientific and medical debate is all about. You >don't need to call me names. Grow up. The last sentence hit the nail on the head. Some people are just ill-mannered children - in behavior, not years. Their playground taunts and name-calling are indictive of their failings in social as well as any sort of debating and/or discussion skills. BIG does a great job keeping this out of the pages of the FML. The FML has been and still is the friendliest and most well-mannered forum that I subscribe to. Unfortunately, there are those that take their childish remarks to personal email and outside of BIG's watchful eye. Debbie, don't let these fools bother you. They're definately not worth it. They exist in every electronic forum and they will ruin the enjoyment of that forum for you if you let them. Don't let them do that. Just realize them for what they are and ignore them.
