Hello everyone. I am a brand-new ferret mom. I've been wanting to adopt for several months now, and have been reading up as much as possible on the little fuzzbutts. Just a few days ago, Someone smiled on me and gave me the opportunity to rescue a little male sable from a bad situation. (He was being kept in a GARAGE!!!!) I bought him, cage and etc. and all, and took him away from there. He's such a little sweetheart, too. Very gentle and loving, never even once offered to nip or even nibble, on the entire 6-hour journey to get him safe. I am going to adopt a litttle female to keep him company. They are both currently in a ferret shelter because I can't keep them in my current home, but I'm moving soon and then we'll be together! The female, Onyx, and Grover are being caged together on a trial basis to see how they get along, and so far, it seems to be love at first sight! (Yes, they're both fixed.) Onyx is a 10mo old sable and Grover is 1-1.5 years. Does anyone have any tips on how to protect sharp edges of metal mesh (actually, it's sections of heavy-duty closet organizer wire)? I want to add a few shelves to the cage and have some good material for it, but I don't want them to go cutting themselves. I've heard people talk about duct tape/etc, but can't they pull that off? - Megan -- Megan O'Shaughnessy DC LMT ( [log in to unmask] ) URL: http://www.teleport.com/~megan/ "Progress in ethics is the only cure for progress in science." -- Dr. Freeman Dyson, quoting Haldane [Posted in FML issue 2418]
