Gee, I don t post for months and today I decide to post with 3 distinct topics....1 subject serious, 1 subject for those who like ferret pictures, and the final subject purely for laughs. First: Recently my ferret Hershey went in for adrenal surgery due to a swollen vulva. My vet discovered a right adrenal imbedded around the vena canal (sp?). Unfortunately he was unable to remove the entire adrenal, however he was able to debulk it 90%. At this time, Hershey s vulva is reducing in size and her energy level is higher than it has ever been in her life which is fantastic news (all signs of adrenal are going away!). However, the lab results indicate that the adrenal tissue that was removed is SUSPECTED carcinoma, (with no active mitosis present) my question is what should I do from this point forwards? Hershey is very healthy, the vulva is receding and she is still young enough (3.5) that my vet is willing to attempt another surgery if the symptoms of adrenal ever return. Please keep in mind that whatever course of action I choose, I do not want something that will simply fight the symptoms of adrenal instead of fighting the cancer itself as I do not wish to miss the signs of a cancerous growth returning in Hershey s body if it were still possible to fight it with surgical methods. Second: A while back, I had the good fortune of entertaining 11 ferrets from the Ferret Aid Society of Toronto. During this time (when I was not scooping poops), I borrowed a friends digital camera and managed to capture a picture of each of the babies (and throw away 99,999,994 garbage pictures of ferrets that would not stay still). I have managed to construct a web page for the occasion and invite each of you to take a look at the crew: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pointe/2149/thevisit.html Finally: My eldest ferret is an atrocious thief! Her favourite prize is a TV Remote, she is so persistent at this game that we have a special shelf just for remotes so Thunder can t get her grubby paws on them! A few weeks back, Thunder managed to sneak into my Uncle s room and steal his remote. Needless to say, he cursed the ferret for stealing and I laughed at him for leaving it in a position that it could be stolen. He grumbled and set off on the task of finding the remote in Thunder s stash..... A few days later the remote was still missing and I had joined the search for the missing remote. We turned the entire house upside down looking for this prize and with the exception of finding alot of missing socks, we were not able to find a thing. One week to the day that the remote disappeared we finally found it. Remember, the special shelf we built to secure our remotes.....she put it there amidst the other remotes, just to prove that NOTHING is safe from her thieving ways!!!
