Last year we placed a young jill with a young lady and her mother that live not to far from us. This young lady was just that and very knowledgeable about ferrets. I had no qualms and felt very good to have placed this jill in such a good home. Later the young lady asked if she could raise one litter of ferrets and after some serious questions I told her we could arrange that. I very closely monitored the pregnancy and birth, so I could be of some helf if needed. This is where things turn weird! Evidently the young lady became a changed person. She was not returning my calls and contact was broken for about 5 weeks. Suddenly I got a call, "Why is my ferret killing her six week old babies" Well, that put the wheels in motion. It took another week to get my hands on the jill and get the whole story. Evidently the parents were having a financial difficulty and felt that they could save money by buying a zoo food for the ferret. Her babies were slowly starving and she was in terrible condition. When I received this information and they were in my presence I told them it was not the jill's fault the babies were dying, it was theirs. They had starved her and her babies. Then I had to walk away with my lips and fists clenched. You see I am a physical person and I would have beaten them both senseless if I had stayed to listen to their self righteous drivel. Anyway Surprise, a beautiful heavy silver with four mitts, and a blaze is at my place eating up a storm. She is ever so sweet and loving. And when I find out how to do it she will appear on my web page! I guess sometimes anybody can be fooled, but these people really put one over on me. Judy [Posted in FML issue 2403]
