There was a post from Pamela regarding a "skin tag" on her ferret's foot. It's a good thing to check your ferret's feet once in awhile. There may be cuts, growths, cracks or even skin tags. Those tags are little calluses which are just normal wear and tear for ferrets. However, they can get rather long or large and may tear if caught in carpeting or floor cracks. If you rub a little vaseline into the foot, the calluses will virtually dissolve as you rub. Vaseline is good--and harmless if licked--for those dry, cracked feet. Be sure to keep nails trimmed, too, to prevent getting caught in blankets or carpets. Dry feet are especially common in the winter when the furnace is running and the house is warm and dry, but they can happen any time of the year. Here's to healthy ferrets!
