I arrived in Victoria, British columbia, a few days ago, with a 6 and a half week old albino kit in tow - going to his new home. He was promptly named 'Mr Tumnus' after a character in the book 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' This afternoon, Mr Tumnus decided to prove to us that not all ferrets like mere raisins for a treat. Oh no, not for Mr Tumnus! Nothing that sedate!! There was a hot red pepper lying on the floor, from where one of the other ferrets in the house had plucked it and left it lying. Mr Tumnus, at seven weeks of age, decided that this was HIS idea of a treat!! Racing over to the pepper, he grabs it and darts into the protection of a box before starting to chew. Grabbing him up, we decide better than to remove him from this tasty treat when he immediately bites into it and starts hissing madly. When placed back on the ground, this little guy who can fit into your hand races into his tunnel, and within seconds, that pepper is completely gone. So now, little Mr Tumnus, his white fur tinted reddish pink around his paws and mouth (to match his eyes) has decided to eat hot red peppers for his treats, and, if possible, his dinner <G> All 'fired up' after his snack, Mr Tumnus made a new discovery. A new chew toy!! Tuvok, sleeping on the floor, is apparently the ideal chew toy for an energetic little kit. Tuvok is a 13 week old Miniature Schnauzer pup. Needless to say, a kit and a pup playing together makes for three anxious people!! However, both were perfect gentlemen, and neither bit hard :o) Although, Mr Tumnus *did* make a point of throwing himself down Tuvok's open mouth several times :o0 Both animals had a ball, and by the time Tuvok was excited enough to want to get more energetic in his play, Mr Tumnus was all pooped out, and it was time for him to go to bed. So, we're left with a pooped out kit with red-rimmed mouth, and an excited pup who wants to play. <sigh> At least *one* of them is sleeping!! Sam [Posted in FML issue 2413]
