I am a recently adopted human. The first ferret that adopted me was about 8 weeks old and he nipped horribly for quite some time. Then all of a sudden (about 6 months old or so) he quit nipping. We just got another wonderful 8 week or so old ferret who we have pretty much concluded is deaf so she seems to be a little more obstinate about biting. Fortunatly I have faith that she to will outgrow this biting stage. Now hopefully my fingers will survive it. A few things I've noticed about when she will tend to bite. If I pick her up from behind. She has no hearing so she didn't hear me walk up behind her. I guess it's pretty reasonable to bite at the big hand from the sky you weren't expecting. She also tends to bite a lot if I have just eaten and didn't think to wash my hands before playing with her. So my hints... Don't surprise your ferret when picking them up, and wash you hands after eating before handling them. Yes I know both of these are pretty much DUH! what were you thinking but it's my 2 cents worth.
