I m pretty new to having a cat. I've actually only had her oround two months. But my cat gets along great with the ferrets they are best friends so it seems. They spend hours wrestling around and chasing each other. I've never seen them bite each other or act viscious in any way. When the ferrets get back in thier cage to go to sleep the cat will climb to the top of the cage and go to sleep too. most of the time the ferrets sleep longer than the cat so she'll stick her paws in the cage and jiggle thier hammock around to make hem get up and play with her. The ferrets always sleep together. This frustrates me a little because I went to great lengths to get a hammock for each of them. but I must admitt they look cute together. I guess Im lucky since nine out of ten times the ferrets will automatically get back in the cage to go to sleep. Im very suprised to see a post about a ferret doing tricks. I couldnt imagine my ferrets doing tricks I dont think they even know thier own names. I must admitt the ferrets spend way to much time in there cage when Im at work or school, sometimes I feel bad but Ithink they like being in thier cage better than they like being out. a lot of the time I'll open the door and they wont come out. or I'll take them out and they'll go right back in.I think my ferrets are exeptionally smart. I know Im rambling but once my male ferret Toby got out of the house ( I think he actually jumped out of the window on the second floor!!!!! scary) I looked for him for hours up and down the street. at about 2AM I gave up looking. the next morning I woke up around ten AM drank some coffee and started getting ready for work when I heard him scratching at my front door. I have no bushes or anything he could of hidden in where I wouldnt have seen him. And a few minutes later a man riding a bike saw me sittin with him on the porch he stopped and told me he had seen toby about a block away the night before just takin a walk down the street! I was totally shocked that toby found his way home all by himself especially when he had been gone all night. I never saw the man on the bike before then so theres no way he would have known that toby was mine. he said he was afraid to pick him up . at the time ferrets were illegal in michigan so ferrets werent very common around there. Im still shocked that he came home. He hasnt tried to escape since then and its been about three years since then. I just want to say one moor thing before I end this just from reading todays list Im suprised to see all the health problems that these little guys can get. I never knew there could be so many complications for them. I always wondered why my vet was worried about kylie's hair loss but said it could just be hormones to keep a close eye on her. the hair grew back and she's fine now. My ferrets have always seemed extremely healthy and I thank god for that. Im sorry Im writing aimlessly here Im just a proud mommy and I like to gloat about my babies I guess . If anyone has any suggestions on how to teach an old ferret new tricks or at least how to listen better Id love to hear them. hope Im not making to much of a fool out of myself here I talk to much. See ya Later Sarah, Toby, and Kylie [Posted in FML issue 2364]
