I don't know if this is appropriate. I thought it might be of interest to the list who might want to participate, as it is a CA-based publication. I have no connection w/the sender or co. & I don't know who the other recipients of "ferretlist" are. [Sounds OK to post... I don't know how financing is usually handled, but guess that's for readers to judge. BIG] ********************************************** Date: Sat, 4 Jul 1998 12:36:32 -0800 To: ferretlist:; From: Branko Romano <[log in to unmask]> Please excuse this mailing, it will only be sent once. I am in need of ferret material and thought this might be the best way to go. My company is starting a new publication entitled The Petopian. It is going to be a print publication (tabloid news magazine) and will be distributed around the San Francisco Bay Area. Eventually we will expand statewide, and then national. We are starting with a printrun of 100,000 copies, giving us a readership of 300,000, monthly. Please take a look at our website at: http://www.petopian.com I would like information, news, stories, rescue articles, etc.... regading ferrets. We have not started any editorial on ferrets yet, but hopefully will start very soon, when we get some good material. Any comments or suggestions would be very much appreciated as to where we might go with this topic. One request I do have is a simple one. And if anybody can help us out with this, I would be more then happy to place a free classifieds ad in our newspaper for the first 6 months (see http://www.petopian.com/html/freeclassifieds.shtml), in return we ask for a letter of intent. What this is for is strictly to show that there is an interest in our type of publication. We will never ask anybody to follow through with the letter. The letter of Intent should state that you find the Petopian to be an interesting magazine concept and would consider advertising in it. This is to show the banks (who will be funding our project) that there is an interest, and that will help us get the loans we are asking for. Please state an amount in the letter (such as $390 a month for a 1/8 page ad). All that is needed is a statement saying that you might consider this, not that you are going to advertise. This would be very much appreciated. I would be happy to link back to any websites, if you like. Please let me know your thoughts! Thank you for your time. -Branko Romano The Petopian PO Box 8245 Emeryville, California 94662 http://www.petopian.com Juliana [Posted in FML issue 2361]
