Here's what we are tyring for 'Chopper: her Digoxin is being upped to 0.15 ml twice a day; her Furosemide is upped to 1.0 ml three times a day and if it looks like she'll be in discomfort tonight she will also have a partial abdominal tap but it would be preferable to skip that if possible. I asked if we had to start worrying about thrown clots now (given our experiences with Meltdown) but that's rare in ferrets so we don't. She gets liver soup multpile tims a day now with added potassium insted of once a day, in additon to he food and water which are always available. We're hoping this does the trick for while so she can go back to having a fun for a while longer. She is using ramp pots and newspaper but I think we have to go to only the paper to reduce her attempts which might exert her till she's stable at least. Spot's GI tracts which was so inflammed after passing several very large fur balls right through has gone down enough that he is almost done with his amoxi, is done with his carafate, has to have the tagament obnly about a week longer, and then has one more week at very low pred levels after that. I plan to nap this after noon. Need it; am dropping off. Sukie [P.S.... late-night update sent which I'm including here. BIG] Just wanted to let you know that 'Chopper has now had first an increase in her Digoxin and her Furosemide earlier today since she was so bad that I didn't want to wait the many hours to the next dose so gave the touch extra, and she has had her night time doses at the new numbers. The difference is startling! She is happier, her legs work better, her belly is not blown up to a level where is causing problems (though it is still blown up), and she's once again not at all uncomfy, and she's alert. This is wonderful! It probably means that her compressions are worse now, which might mean that she'll have less time than we expected after the last ultrasound since her compressions were so good then despite the level of cardiomyopathy. Still, she's happier and she has back her quality of life and when push comes to shove that's what matters. Thought you'd appreciate the good news. heck, she's even good enough that we can sleep through tonight. Sukie [Posted in FML issue 2378]
