Just another opinion, I've tried a few harness brands, in fact I have a wooden rack on the ferret room wall with over a dozen different colored harness/lead sets hanging on pegs. No brand is really bad, each has some feature I like. The Marshalls come in a variety of colors and adjust to fit really little kits, but after adjusting the strap just dangles there. I ordered another type from FerretWare out west, they have very long leads and the straps on the harness don't dangle.....but the clips are the type that have to be pushed in the middle. I find those clips awkward when I have long nails, and on occasion they don't hold at all and the harness falls off when the ferret gives a jerk. I have to admit haven't even tried the Velcro type harness, I just get the creeps when I hear that tearing sound. My absolute favorite harness is the one by Hagen, available in pet store chains. I use the one meant for rabbits on my bigger boys - it's even a couple of dollars cheaper because it doesn't have a bell. The side opening clips are easy on my old fingers, and they come in a variety of colorful prints. I have tried a couple of bags for toting a ferret in public. My kids gave me a mesh beach bag that works pretty well, and my son has a mesh backpack. We have a couple of those nice Ferret Madness front packs too. But my absolute favorite is a front pack from Ferretwarz. It's bigger, has a clip for the harness inside, and has elastic straps on the outside for carrying a water bottle. The best feature is the extra-wide shoulder straps with clips on the ends (the same kind of side-squeeze clips as the Hagen harness) which make it easier for me to put on. I just got my ferret checks from Kansas Bank Note Co .... they make me smile even when I'm using them to pay bills. PamV and 13 excuses to shop [Posted in FML issue 2339]
