Hi there fellow ferret lovers, My name is Samantha Rosier and I am president of Club Ferret Las Vegas. I am also the assistant to the small animal director at a Petco here in Vegas. I am writing in regards to a note posted on April 25 about a problem with Petco ferrets. I can tell you right now that not all Petco's are the same. Every store is run differantly. Because my department is small animals, I take care of all the ferrets and other small animals. The ferrets at my store are treated like royalty. I spend individiual time with every ferret every day. They always have fresh food and water and their water bottles is ALWAYS at a level they can reach it at. They get the best ferret food available and always have a clean cage. YES, they are kept in a hectagon cage with a wire lid, but it is adiquate and much better than most cages I have seen at local pet stores. I have however been concerned with the size of ferrets we have been receiving lately. We got a new shipment on Saturday night and these ones still have their surgery stitches which is something I have NEVER seen before. We get our ferrets in VERY bad conditions sometimes and I am in the process of trying to get this problem resolved. But of all the pet stores in Las Vegas their are only 2 I trust to purchase ferrets at and one of them is Petco. If I didnt like the way Petco treats their animals I would not work there. I wish all Petco's cared about their ferrets the way I do.......but I can't save the world (even though I wish I could). I do pet store reviews on a differant pet store atleast once a week and I have called animal control on 3 of them in the last 2 months. But you cant really blame the pet stores for the size of their ferrets...........it is the breeders fault!!!
