We aquired our first three ferrets while living in a pet-free builiding
(which fails to explain the squaking bird and barking dog above us) and were
fortunate to have a very senile landlord. Nonetheless we were paranoid that
we'd get busted. The one thing we had to be careful of was windows. A few
times I'd come home from work, look up, and see one of the gang up in the
window peering out. There was a fire alarm one night and we had to stuff
everyone into a carry-on duffle bag. I just casually walked to my car and
we took a little drive. We're in a much better place now (for all of us)!
Good luck!
