Hi friends! I'm at a pivotal point where I need your help. I have two ferrets - Slinky (now 4.5 and in good health) and Pogo (just over 3 and also in good health). Obviously, my guys are getting a little older, and I would like to "re-liven" the household with a new ferret. My wife, however, hates ferrets (I know, but she's wonderful in many other ways). This has led to much angst, discussions, stand-offs, etc. But we're down to trying to work out these issues. One of the issues she has is the possibility that we will, in the next few years, be starting a family and having kids. I know all about interactions between ferrets and kids - that's not the issue. Howeever, we all know that ferrets rarely have 100% hit rates on the litter boxes, and my guys are no exception. I'm pretty fastidious about cleaning up accidents as soon as I am aware of them, which is usually pretty quickly. However, there are obvious times where I miss them until a little later - hey, no one is perfect, right? So - the question is - how have other ferret owners with babies made sure that the baby does not come into contact with a ferret "accident" that you may have missed? Since babies put lots of stuff in their mouth, this is an obvious concern of hers... Thanks again for your help - please just e-mail me privately with any suggestions you may have. Cheers - Mason, Slinky, Pogo, and Leila the cat (who sees a rare opportunity to be rid of the rugrats once and for all... wait... what's this baby thing?) [Posted in FML issue 2242]
