About two weeks ago my fiance and myself were looking into adopting a dog. We went to the local animal shelter and when I was speaking to the manager of the shelter, I asked him about their policy on ferrets. He said that they normally turned ferrets away unless they were sick at which point they would be euthanized. I told him about the FML and he was thrilled to find out that there were so many ferret enthusiasts. He likes them himself but has never had one as a pet. Anyway, I gave him my number and told him to contact me if he had anyone come in with a ferret. Today I received a phone call from him and there was a young girl looking for a home for her roommates ferret. Apparently the roommate does not take care of it and she feels badly because this little guy just lays in his cage all day w/ no one to play with and no toys. I spoke with the girl and she said he had a very nice temperament and didn't bite. He was approximately a year and a half old. I am going to go see him tomorrow night and wanted to know if anyone in the Southeastern part of NY (near NYC) would be interested? I would be willing to meet someone half way if they would like. If you are interested please e-mail me and I will contact you with the details. Thanks for listening, Caryl Lucy, Brutus and Bravo [Posted in FML issue 2237]
