Medical question for you - Nero (as in nero the mighty from our web page) is 6 (dob 9/3/91) and besides having a botched descenting as a baby which gave him a short term prolapsed rectum, he has been a healthy little guy. A little slow in the brain area, but a good guy. Oh, he also used to have just horrendous breath, for years, which is much better and he had a 4cmm chunk of fat on his neck that was removed last year with no complications except that his hair has not grown back. Anyway, he has started doing the eyes glazed over, stopping flat in his tracks, drooling, pawing at the mouth which are the classic signs of something (insulinoma, I think) so we started him on 1 teaspoon of whipping cream a day with 100mcg of chromium (wrapped in brewer's yeast) and a little vitamin c. He has responded will to this but is there something else, outside of surgery, I can do for him? I have liquid pred here, but would prefer to not give him steriods unless necessary. I gave Tieke (who just recently passed away who had all kinds of cancer) pred with whipping cream for a year and it extended his life way past what the vet thought he would have, but with Tieke, I didn't think he had long term prospects so giving him the steriods for so long outweighed the damage to his body. With Nero, who has been healthy up until now, I would like to hold off. thanks for any advice you can give. beckers -- becki kain "words are just dust in deserts of sound." eldritch [Posted in FML issue 2179]
