Finally some positive press for fuzzies in CA. The cover of the Westside Weekly on Sunday December 28th was graces with a picture of a CA ferret owner and her two ferrets. The article talked about ferrets as pets, problems faced with legalization and real ferret facts. I am not sure how widely this supplement to the LA Times is distributed but I am happy that ferrets finally got the coverage they deserve. In response to the LA SPCA website, I personally sent them an enraged email about having outdated information and that they should be objective and subjective in their information. Another bad news info is that I finally found some info about why the Sierra Club is against ferrets in CA. I found it ironic that they had an article about the Black Footed Ferret and its prey the Prairie Dog saying basically that it is only mammal which has the hardest time surviving. How can they expect the domestic ferret to survive in the wild then the wild ferret can hardly manage? Can't figure out the reasoning there! I tried to reprint the actual text in this post but their search engine link was broken. Figures! Funny how when I take my ferrets out in the real world I find ferret owners each time. Just last week I went through a drive thru with my boy looking out the car window and two of the workers there had two ferrets each. I took them to a low key park and one lady's brother has one. Amazing how many ferret owners you can find in CA. If only they all would be in on the fight for legalization. Anissa, Bandit & Armand [Posted in FML issue 2171]
