Hello Ferret Lovers, I'm not sure if this subject has been already discussed on the FML since I've been having a problem receiving email this last week, but there was an article in the newspaper Thursday that made me heartsick for everybody involved and the poor ferret. It seems that a set of 15 day old twins in Anaheim were bitten repeatedly on their faces, arms & heads by their grandmother's ferret who had escaped from its cage. The babies are in good condition but the ferret was put to death but tested negative for rabies. The article went on to say that the weasel-like predators have been banned in California since 1993 on grounds they kill off native game and may hurt children at home (exact wording). I just can't imagine any ferrets I know actually attacking anything. I know they would be curious about what a baby is but I can't believe they would hurt it intentionally. I can imagine this isolated incident will again put ferret legalization on hold in California. BJ West [Posted in FML issue 2163]
