Hi, I have been reading FML for about 4 weeks now and have seen a TON of useful information! I do have a problem that I have not seen addressed before and despartly need help with. My ferret Zoid (Male, almost 2 yr) is a digger. We live in an apartment that is carpeted everywhere except the bathrooms and kitchen. I've tried bitter apple, making loud noises, time outs in his cage, scruffing him while scolding him - I'm at wits end! His "favorite" spot is at the front door. We put down a plastic carpet runner to try and protect it - forget it, he digs at the side of it. We already have a couple of holes in the carpet from this and would like to eventually get some of our security deposit back. But, he doesn't just dig at the front door. He digs under the vanity in the bedroom, under his cage, in the middle of the living room floor. Short of covering our entire apartment in plastic carpet runners I'm at a loss! My vet told me that maybe he was lonely and wanted a playmate. I got a female about 4 weeks ago and the problem continues. I take him outside during the summer to dig in the grass but I don't want to take him outside in the snow during the winter. Please, Please, Please, any new suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You can respond to me privately to [log in to unmask] or on the list as I read it on a daily basis (or try to). Again, thanks for all the great information I have already gotten from the list! LuAnn Zoid "Mom, let me down! I got ferret bitness to take care of!!" Cinders "I'm a little princess." ++++++++++++++++++++++++ [Posted in FML issue 2142]
