Actually, the christian holiday came from an ancient naturalist view-when
the days were shortest and all vegetation laid fallow, the HOPE of a new
spring rennaissance dwelt in everyone's heart.  To encourage this HOPE, our
ancestors brought in the tree that remained green in winter, bedecked it
with candles, and had a wild feast-all to call the sun back from vacation!
It has never failed!
