Regarding traveling with ferrets, we took Farrah and Fannie from Florida to New York and back this summer and they did well, sleeping most of the time in the hammock in their travel cage. Since they try to get out when the cage is opened, I waited until we stopped driving every night to clean their litter box. The metallic sunscreen placed over the top of the cage kept the hot sun off them and, of course, the air conditioning was ALWAYS on. They enjoyed occasional treats of nutrical and cheerios through their cage along with their usual food and water. In motels we made sure the air contioning unit had no holes to the outside and there were no other holes around the room. They enjoyed exploring a new place and did get under the bed unit which my strong husband lifted for me. I took along proof of their vaccinations. Farrah got to see her sister in New York and loved her new apartment which had interesting closets and some unpacked moving boxes. Regarding the recent Punta Gorda animal rescue, the ferrets were taken to the Charlotte County Animal Welfare League shelter which I understand is excellent. I'll call to see how they're doing.
