There is a new pet store, NJ PETS on route 23 in the King's shopping mall. This is near Cedar Grove. Anyway, they seem pretty good and interested in the welfare of their ferrets and other animals. They currently have three ferrets, 7-8weeks old that came from a breeder in PA called Holmes. One ferret is a light sable male, a second male has a patch work kind of coloring, not really symetrical at all. These two ferrets have the normal kit personalities of wanting to be picked up and wiggle and gnaw on your fingers ect. The third ferret is a female that almost looks like a dark eyed white but she has a bit of dark guard hairs along her spine and is more of a golden color than white. Her personality is shy and I think she is a fear bitter. She didn't bite me at all when I held her but Jonathan (a pet store employee) said she nailed him good when he had her scruffed to look at her mouth when she was coughing over some food. She also tends to move away from someone reaching into their large display cage and she looks nervous to be picked up. The breeder guarantees disposition, but the folks at the pet store won't send her back because they don't want her to be killed. She is really very sweet. Once she was in my arms she just cuddled as close as possible and looked up into my face. I think she will make the right person a very sweet lap ferret and I bet she will even lose her fearfulness in a quiet and secure home. I can't take her. My older male ferret has been an only ferret too long to change now. Anyone looking for this kind of sweet ferret might want to check her and the pet store out. I printed a copy of the FAQ out and took it into the pet store to Jonathan and he was thrilled to get it. He said it would go into the stores resource book and be recomended reading to all of their employees that work with the ferrets. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a couple of new subscribers out of it. These folks are trying hard to do right by their animals so stop by and give them some encouragement. Several of the employees have ferrets at home. Jonathon has 3 or 4 and unfortunately one of them has just been diagnosed with emphazema. They don't know what its from yet but he's working with a vet to figure out what her options are. Max [Posted in FML issue 2064]
