I would greatly appreciate hearing back from any of you who have had what sure looks like ECE, but only in part of your critters. Two of my oldsters (4 1/2 and 5) seem to have full-blown ECE, but a 1-year-old and a 5-year-old (who also has adrenal disease) haven't shown the first sign. Two foster boys (6 mo. and 1 yr.) in another room haven't shown the first sign either, and I thought this stuff was really contagious. It's been going on in my elders for almost two weeks now and should have been passed on by now if it was going to pass. The disease may have been carried by the fosters, but why didn't everyone in my crew get it? Are we looking at a less virulent mutation or another gastro-intestinal virus? The elders are getting standard treatment (antibiotics, Kaopectate, baby chicken food, Pedialyte, lactated Ringers injections, etc.) but by the time it was full-blown in them I sure wasn't practicing isolation measures. If you've experienced a similar "partial" outbreak in your business or shelter, I'd very much appreciate hearing about it. Along with the vet, we're trying to get a handle on this.
