OK, I know Black Footed Ferrets are generally off limits, but I'm hoping since it's Sunday and things have been slow this will be allowed-- I think somebody might have mentioned this before, but in the August issue of Wildlife Conservation there are some truly spectacular pictures of black footed ferrets. There's one four photo sequence of a BFF taking down a prarie dog that should remind you of the play of somebody you know, except that the BFF is one solid muscle, judging from the pictures! Unfortunately, the accompanying article is pretty pessimistic about the BFF having any sort of future as a wild animal. Gee, since ferrets are supposed to be such a big threat to the state of California, maybe the BFFs should be relocated there, where they would obviously thrive. People can be so stupid... Anyway, check out the photos and appreciate this cousin to your domesticated (or -ic, or whatever) mustelid! Regina Amelia (I could get a prarie dog if I felt like it... what is one, anyway?) and Cully (if my nose was black, I'd look just like a BFF, only flabbier) [Posted in FML issue 2022]
