As some of you know Steve has turned down job offers in California because of the ferret ban. Last week he received a mail from a v.p. of one of those companies saying that he had sent a letter on company letterhead to his area's state senators and representatives stating that the ban on ferrets had compromised his company's hiring position. Last night we heard that another company for which a friend works was planning to do the same, having run into the problem several times with desired people. Others here have mentioned job offers which they turned down for their ferrets' sakes. If you are still in touch with the people who wanted to hire you what about asking them if they would consider sending the same sort of one sentence letter? If you are an employer in that position you could also do it. Tackling the problem from multiple sides can't hurt at all. [Posted in FML issue 1955]
