I didn't reply to this (as I assumed everyone else would so I'm a bit late
with this post). I order ferret supplies from Marshall, to resell in order
to support my rescue efforts. When I phone their 800 number (as anyone
can), and state that I want to place an order, they ask "livestock or
supplies"? The pet stores in my area of the world order their "livestock"
directly from Marshall Farms. They can order anywhere from 1 to "whatever"
as long as they have a resale license.

Ditto.
