A letter to the Governor: The following was sent via e-mail. >"Dear Governor Engler, >The plight of Kodo is being witnessed by many across this nation. Your >wisdom and humanity are being called to task and your judgment is required. >Although one may be tempted to think this is a frivolous matter, the love of >a family pet is never such. In this case there is no sign of negligence, >nor malfeasance on the part of the owner. The owner demonstrated reasonable >care and in fact the incident occurred during an altruistic endeavor. >Unless you wish to curb or discourage other well intended behaviors, I urge >you compassion in the handling of Kodo's and the children's future. > >Already in this state, various pets have demonstrated a remarkable and >positive effect on the geriatric population during visits to the area's >nursing homes. By not mitigating this case, you may indirectly and >negatively effect the course and actions that benefit the very population >that deserves our best efforts. It is not just the life of one small and >unusual pet you will be considering put perhaps, in some small part, the >welfare of many across this great nation. Providence has positioned you in >this corner Governor Engler, it is up to you and you alone, on how you >react: with wisdom and compassion, or proficiency as your guiding force." Does anyone know the right fax #'s? Has there been any attempt at national coverage? I have not seen any related stories on the local news. best wishes, alphachi ps. good luck Kodo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ----------------------------- Date: Tue, 10 Jun 1997 00:59:05 -0400 From: "Tim C. I sent a note to the E-Mail address posted on the FML several times and forwarded a copy to the FML. Unfortunately that E-Mail address apparently has an "auto-responder" on it. I mistakenly replied the the reply and got another copy of the same stupid message. I guess Gov. Engler will not ever see my notes. I'm sorry Kodo, I guess I didn't do anything at this point to help you. I would like to tell you that I am Catholic and offered up my Mass Saturday Evening for you and lit two votive candles in the Church we go to. (To a Catholic these are special things to do for a very special intention.) I do not know what your situation is. I pray that you have been (or soon will be) given back to your "parents". If that is not the case, I pray that you are merely waiting for that to happen. If unfortunately the worse has happened, (which I pray is not true), look for Salena and the others at the Rainbow Bridge and know you are loved. -- Tim, Makai, Salena <RB-GAF> [Posted in FML issue 1962]
