I haven't had time to read all the posts do to the length of the FML lately. This is my 2 cents worth. I love the idea of a national/ international club/organization. Even though there are already several, but I don't believe this will stop the killing. This must be done on a county and state level. As mentioned in several posts, most states have either county or state controll over the kill or no kill policy. My county has a kill policy, although I've heard of several counities that quarantine ferrets. On a case by case basis. I live in Florida and we are working hard on changing the kill policy to a quarantine. Some friends of mine have made great progress in the last two years. It takes alot of time, effort and money. Get your facts together and go to your local/county government. It's very tough to get them to change. Thier biggest fear is someone getting rabies and sueing the &%#@ out of the county/state. Get to know your local polititians, find one or two that will listen and go from there. I know they are supposed to work for us, after all this is the USA. Snicker. I belive we got some information from our friends in New Hampshire. I guess their law on leagalizing ferrets was very well put together. I hope I have my facts straight, "I am never wrong, I'm sometimes mistaken, and often missinformed." :-) Good luck to all. Changing a closed mind is in no way, all that easy. I would also like to take this time to thank Brevard Ferret Lovers Rescue. They are doing a great job in trying to make Florida a safer state for ferrets. Thanks again BFLR.
