I bought my wife another ferret today because she was upset about Kodo. He is silver, appx. 8 weeks old, and we haven't named him yet (we'll call him "Baby" for now). We also have a sable named Ricky, about 16-18 weeks old. Ricky cheerfully clamps his mouth around the neck of Baby to the point that Baby "gasps" for breath, apparently choking. Baby is always running from Ricky (but does not appear scared, looks like he wants to explore) and Ricky does not give him a seconds breath but constantly, for lack of a better word, "plays" with him. Additionally, when we remove Baby to the cage because we get too concerned, Ricky circles the cage apparently trying to get at Baby. Ricky does not appear upset or angry, but seems intently focused on dominating the little guy without letting up at all. Ricky also grabs onto Baby, usually by the ear, and drags him towards his "stash" as if Baby's a toy. We are very concerned that Ricky may hurt, or even suffocate, Baby. Before we get too attached, we'd like a better idea as to whether we should return Baby or not. Is it possible that Ricky is a "loner ferret", as we've read about on the Net?? Ricky does get along with our cats (although the cats don't appreciate his playfulness as we do). Please respond ASAP to [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] Thanks!!
