Today someone mentioned that they had a ferret that did not like men .... Epstein, the 10 month old neutered, male ferret that lives with me doesn't appear to like men either. He has always been gently treated and is very warm and cuddly with me and with other human woman. (He doesn't know any other fuzz-butts.) Epstein is noticiably, very un-fond of my male housemate Roman. Epstein will run accross a room to nip Roman and will climb all over him and nip and lunge for his face. Roman has been very good about this and has not been mean or harsh to Epstein... but he is getting a little bit weary of this. I've tried having Roman give Epstein treats - give him Ferrettone - pat him after rubbing his hands full of Ferrettone etc etc. But Epstien continues to be very agressive with Roman. I will be cuddling Epstein - letting him kiss me etc etc ... and if Roman comes into view, Epstein will stop everything and attack Roman. Epstein has been less agressive ...but still agressive with other men.... and he is a sweet, full of kisses and cuddles with all the women that the meets (including Roman's grilfriend.) Has anyone else encounted this sort of behavior in male Ferrets? could it be phermones? Any suggestions? Becuase of this behavior, Epstein spends less time running free and more time in his cage.
