BIG and several of the shelter operators have sent helpful suggestions, plus the phone numbers of people whom Sandee could call. The brain and spinal column of the first dead ferret (there are two dead and two with symptoms) had already been sent to Accupath by our vet. Sandee has spoken to Bruce Williams this evening, but there seems to be nothing he can suggest until he receives the sample, which may be on Friday. The two ferrets are quarantined, of course, but Sandee is fearful that it may be too late to avoid exposure of her 15 (or more?) other ferrets. Her best friend is also worried, because three of her ferrets went to the vet with Sandee, although in a different carrier. When I last spoke to Sandee this evening, she told me she keeps wandering into the ferret room and wondering which of her babies is next. The impaired two still seem to think they are fine except for that durned hind end, but the paralysis is spreading. Your prayers for the ferrets and for Sandee would be much appreciated.
