Greetings from Oregon. This is Sandy Streit, the co-chair of the Oregon Ferret Association's raffle quilt. To bring everyone up to speed, the OFA is making a queen sized quilt to raffle off as a fund raiser for the ferret shelter we support. The drawing will be held at our Fun Match on Aug 10. My partner in the project, Amy Evers, has been soliciting quilt blocks on the FML. Thanks to all who have responded. We currently have 20 quilt blocks, about half of what we need. There is still time to contribute quilt blocks to this project. Each block needs to be 10 inches square. When we piece them together, we will take a half inch seam on each side, making the finished square 9 inches on each side. We need cotton or cotton/poly blend fabric. Any pattern and color is acceptable. Or if you can't sew a quilt block, an embroidered or cross-stitched block is also fine. We hope to have all squares by early June. Remember, for each block you donate, you get 1 free raffle ticket, a maximum of 2 free tickets. As the blocks accumulate, I find my enthusiasm for this project grows. We have received several "traditional" blocks. In addition, I've been sewing patchwork birds and animals. I am impressed with the craftsmanship each block displays. When finished, this quilt will be truly unique. Our goal is to create an heirloom that will appreciate in value. If you'd like to buy some raffle tickets, they cost $1 each. You don't have to be present to win. And I promise we will ship the quilt if an out of towner wins. Just send a check, along with your name, address, phone and/or email to me at the address below. You have my word that your ticket(s) will get into the barrel for the drawing. Here's my address for those blocks and ticket requests: Sandy Streit 3145 SW Maricara St Portland, OR 97219 Thanks again. [Posted in FML issue 1885]
