Ben came home today! Dr. Weiss called early this morning to tell us she was OK. We drove down in a snowstorm to get her. She's now sleeping peacefully, although it took her a long time to get comfortable. She refused food but licked some Nutri-Cal and drank water out of a bottlecap. When she wakes up, we'll try again to get her to eat. We may have to syringe feed her for a while. Her incision has been bleeding a little, so we'll have to watch her carefully. Dr. Weiss has been wonderful. He let us go back into the recovery/intensive care area three times yesterday afternoon to visit Ben. He took Ben home with him last night and called us three times to reassure us that Ben was doing well. Last evening, we were so frazzled that we left one of the cage doors open when we went out to eat. We came home to find two ferrets loose. Jasmine, the blood donor, was still sleeping in the cage! Upstairs in the bathroom, the trash was scattered and a "present" decorated the side of the bathtub. Just now we discovered a cache of the dog's squeaky toys lined up in a neat row under an end table in the living room. I guess Bridgett and Buttercup knew we needed some comic relief!
