I was working on a translation the other day of some phrases into Irish Gaelic (long story -- I'm an academic, but this isn't my field :) and I came across the following: apparently, the Gaelic word for 'ferret' is 'teine-creasadh'. 'Tiene' is the Gaelic word for 'fire', and 'creasadh' seems related to the word 'craosach', which means "wide-mouthed, voracious." At least, that's what I could piece together. (There's also a Gaelic spelling of the English word 'ferret', but it's a different word.) Our sweet little babies really have a reputation, don't they? <g> -Tasha [Posted in FML issue 1812]
