>From: Chris von Seggern <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Bitten by stray Hopefully its not too late. Doctors sometimes are obligated to report bite cases. This is a perfect time to do your own 7 day quarantine. If the ferret shows no signs of problems in 7 days than you should be fine as well. If the ferret does than you are in plenty of time to start rabies treatment. If a medical type know better than listen to them. >From: Mary and Modern Ferret magazine <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: MODERN FERRET ON TV! So are you going to tape this for us poor souls too far away to see it live? They don't carry that channel here either.... <pout> Congrats! >From: Bob Church <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Mo' Bob Sheltered Very nice posting. Rational thinking is always good. >I cannot compare to shelter owners regarding the love and dedication >offered to their wards. But I'm afraid we have to disagree with you here. We read your stories and see your dedication. We can't fault your 7 points at all. We expect everyone to disagree with almost everyone else on something at some point, and hope you don't disagree with us too often. >From: Library <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Tooth surgery >The vet wants to put him under gas anestethic and "work on his teeth". There is only one gas currently recommended Isoflourine Yo vets! correct me if thats wrong. Your vet probably knows though. He will then take dental instruments and scrape away the tartar buildup. It sounds pretty bad so the vet using gas is the best way. The dental work is not a problem. The red gums are probably gingivitis which will clear up after the bacteria in the tarter and under the gum line are cleared. Nothing to worry about. >From: Rebecca Katlin Coleman <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: A repeat of teeth cleaning questions not yet answered We don't brush our ferrets teeth but we don't think that is better, just letting you know that we can't talk much about it. The dental instruments for ferrets should be the same as for other small animals. We usually pick them up at ferret shows which won't help you too much. A vet would do the dental work on animals including ferrets. bill and diane killian zen and the art of ferrets http://www.zenferret.com/ mailto:[log in to unmask] [Posted in FML issue 1809]
