It is with a great deal of sadness that I am writing this. My husband Evan and I have been ferret owners for over 2 years now and currently have 4 adorable little fuzzies (Schtinka, Frosty, Niles and Maris). Unfortunately our landlord has told us that we must give away our beloved pets. When we moved into our apartment we only owned Schtinka our little pudgey grey and white female. At that time our landlord said that it was fine with him if we had a ferret. We then answered an ad and bought both Niles and Maris so that little Schtinka would have some companions. (We incorrectly assumed that he wouldn't mind if there was more than one ferret.) Sometime after this we acquired Frosty, a little black-eyed white and that completed our little family. Needless to say when the landlord stopped over, just before Christmas, he was very upset and claimed that the "ferret smell" was ruining his investment and demanded that they *ALL* have to go now. Evan and I were pretty much devasted. We considered moving so that we could keep our family intact but with the health problems that we are having right now, it simply won't work. Thus, we are forced to give our little babies away. I am now searching for the best home possible for these little guys. I would prefer to give them away all together but, they can be broken up into pairs if need be. We love these little guys so much...it is so difficult to part with them. I felt that the best place to look for a loving home for them was on the list and I'm hoping that there is someone in the Milwaukee/Chicago area who would be willing to take them in. A little bit more about the fuzzies...Schtinka is our little pudgey grey and white female. She is absolutely adorable with a little potbelly and a comical temperament. Frosty is our little black-eyed white. She's very petite and delicate and she *loves* to be cuddled. Niles and Maris (yes they are named after the characters on Frasier) could be twins. They are blank and brown with raccoon-like markings on their faces. They love to play and romp around and are very curious and lovable. All four ferrets are litter-box trained and they are all very used to be held and handled by humans. They are used to having room to exercise and run during the day and they stay in their cages at night. They all love ferretone and we give them some every day before bed. We have a lot of accessories that will come with the ferrets. Between the four of them we have 3 large cages and various sleeping bags and toys. We also have a system of tunnels and tubes that Evan made which they *love* to play in. We have litter boxes and food dishes/water bottles that would come with the ferrets. If there is anyone who might be interested in welcoming 2 or 4 new little fuzzies into their home, please write us at [log in to unmask] Thank you, Jen and Evan [Posted in FML issue 1808]
