well a lot of peple have been asking about deaf ferrets lately we have 2 out of 15 who are deaf both are DEW with one being more a DEW patterned she has a salt and pepper back. Ok some of the questions were how do they react to new family members(ferrets) we haven't had too much problem it depends more on the individual personalities of said ferrets Bear(full name Polar Bear) he was our 5th ferret and we added 12 different ones since then (two went to good homes). He hasn't had too much problem other then the occasional domence thing. Now angel our other deaf one she's adjusted well except the very last 2 surrenered/given to us but they've been having problems with everyone(they didn't know how to play ferret gamesalways being in a cage) Now how do you find out whether or not they're deaf. With bear it took some time we noticed he'd freak when he'd suddenly see us in the hall when we were talking to him and not sneaking up. What we did with him is there was a squeky toy that all the ferrets luved well what we did was held it behind Bear's head out of his sight and squeeked it making sure the air wasn't blowing on him and he wouldn't react until he saw it then hew wanted to play with it. Angel we pretty much the same thing after noticing she wasn't responding to noise.
