Hi all :-) This is my first post, I've been around only for a few months and loving every second of it! I got my first ferret about two months or so ago, Whisky, and my family and me have fallen in love with him :-) But I'm sorry to say that they are illegal in Puerto Rico and for that reason very hard to find or even harder to find a vet thats willing and able to work with them. We are talking a $10,000 fine for every one of the little guys that you own and needless to say that they put the little guys to sleep :-( For those reasons I have my doubts about taking Whisky to the vet to get his shots. Even if I cut find a vet that was willing to work with him (I don't think I cut find one, but I cut try) what shots should be given and when? As I understand there are some vaccines that can not be given the same day or even the same week. I know the FAQ talks about this but it's not clear to me, sorry. So, my questions are: when what shots should be given? (so that I can understand this better lets say that I were to give him his first shot tomorrow, the other shots would be .... days after?) in what order should the different shots be given or cut they be given in any order as long as they are ... days apart? where should I insert the needle? what about reacting to the vaccines, what should I be on the look out for? what should I have on-hand just in case? where can I buy the vaccines; do I go to the vet or the pet shop to get them? any thing else that cut help? I'm asking this because, I'm thinking of giving him his shots myself, I know that you don't approve of this but what other option do I have on the matter. If you can think of something I'm open to suggestions. You can e-mail me directly at [log in to unmask] or post the answer. The way that is most appropriate for you and the FML. BTW, Whisky is between 8 to 10 months old as I am told. Thanks a bunch!! Roura & Whisky. [Posted in FML issue 1783]
