Question for Mo' Bob and other Ferret historians: while doing extensive scholarly research in the most recent issue of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Holiday 1996) catalog, on page 44 i found a statue of what looks *just like a fert!* the catalog says it's an otter from the egyptian, ptolemaic period 304-30 BC (well, they got that wrong -- should be 330-04 BC, i think) so maybe the otter is out of place, but if it really is from that period, could it be the source of the "ferrets in ancient egypt" legends? i swear, this thing looks just like a little fert begging for raisins, with his paws up and a smile on his face. check it out! perhaps a great gift for a fert fan from anyone with $195 burning a hole in their pocket. for a free catalog (and to be on their mailing list for perpetuity) write to MOMA, 255 Gracie Station, NY, NY 10028-9998 this is *not* a plug for MOMA, just an interesting catalog with a darling little fert mislabeled as an "otter." HA! i know a fert when i see one! -- Rainey [Posted in FML issue 1774]
