I took my two little fert-buddies to the vet on Wednesday for distemper #2 (they are approx. 14 wks old) and my veterinarian questioned my insistence on returning for a third vaccination. Does anyone have any official references that recommend a set of three distemper vaccinations? All I have is the FAQ and a sheet I got from MF. No offense to Pamela Greene is intended, but what am I supposed to say? ("Well, Doc., the Ferret Underground has recommended for years...") Taking a cue from another poster, I printed out the entire FAQ and all the medical FAQs and I will be presenting this information to my vet when the little buds go in for their rabies shots in a couple of weeks. I wish I could be a little more eloquent when speaking to her about my sources of information.. I tried describing the FML to her, the existence of the FAQ, etc. and I didn't get too far. Explaining the internet to someone who doesn't even have an email account is a little tricky. Any help here? I would really appreciate it. This particular vet is very nice and one of the few practitioners in the area who is ferret-friendly. Two vets won't see ferrets at all and one told me that it just isn't "standard practice" to vaccinate them against rabies. (sigh!) Melissa A. Durfee [Posted in FML issue 1756]
