For what it's worth, one of our members and her ferret were attacked by a
"pit bull" here recently, that jumped a fence to get her ferret. The ferret
died in the emergency clinic, and the authorities here would do nothing,
because apparantly their philosophy was "well, he was only going after the
ferret, and he only bit the woman because she tried to get her ferret back."

On a related matter, there is a need for ferret "blood givers" here, but
many of our vets are uncertain whether ferrets have varying blood types. I
think I read recently that there are not, but if anyone could forward me any
solid facts on this matter that we could then distribute to vets, we'd
really appreciate it.
