Well, this morning I was woken up to Dr, Kendrick explaining to me that Ollie is now blind. The new status of Ollie is that it could be two things that he has diagnosed. 1) Toxemia, from roach bait, but I can retort, They are in a bedroom, and since we have ferrets, we don't even but that stuff for we know that it can be bad. 2) Canine Distemper, which also I want to retort too, he has had all three shots and if he had it before, shouldn't I have seen signs already?? The CBC was fine, the hematocrit was a little low, and so was his iron. He also was on the low side, but I can't remember because I was in too much of a panic. He did eat this morning, about a tablespoon of A/D, and I brought some of his regular food, just to get him interested, just in case. Also since Dr. Kendrick said he was blind, I brought my most recently worn tee-shirt so he is familiar with the smell. But in addition, his eyes did get dilated when we checked his eyes later this morning. I have contacted another vet in my area who has had recent experience with Distemper in ferts so I know what the signs are. I also left a message on Dr. Bruce Williams phone to see what he thought of. I have no doubt in my vet, I think personally he is the best in the state of Texas, he really does care about ferts and their owners, but I just need some reassurance of what he has, for it is too early to tell right now, but, this is driving me crazy!! If ANYONE has info on FERTS AND DISTEMPER, PLEASE PLEASE E-MAIL ME< we can compare notes. Thanks, And I will continue to keep everyone updated!! Blanca [Posted in FML issue 1726]
