Ode to Farence As you gaze out from your resting place It seems you ran a winning race Nearly nine your years we're told had numbered though you kept great pace. And now you remain among our hearts as you watch the shelter children. Sweet Farence, brave through the pain we tried to cure Sparing kisses each and every day. No troubles could break the love and warmth you would share with all who played with and held you. ........................................................................ Shelter Mom and Dad regretfully announce the passing of another Ferret Wise hero. Farence Ferret Wise, senior geriatric resident departed to assume his watch at rainbow bridge at 5:45 Pm on October 5, 1996. Farence had been having spurratic seizures since May 18 and was though to be a probable insulinoma kid. The autopsy revealed a massive tumor behind his left eye (which coincidentally had a cataract). The last few hours were painful as Mom and shelter friend Pam held and cuddled... he kissed and enjoyed this attention but kept his good eye closed to a slit. Farence was ever happy to have his last few raisins and duck soup before the bell would chime to call him home. Farence is resting close by on Ferrets View - we miss his presence in the house but know he is ever with us. [Posted in FML issue 1713]
