Hi to all! I need help, opinions and reassurances. One of my furries, a one year old silver mitt neutered male, has a swelling around one of his front teeth. It appeared suddenly yesterday morning and I thought that he had somehow wounded himself. The swelling is all around the front of his canine tooth but the irritation extends towards the back. The swelling is about 1/16 of an inch, it is red in the front and pink on the side. After 24 hours there is still no change, I have taken him to a vet who is currently treating him for gingivitis however he did not exclude a tumour of some kind. He gave me a cortisone based liquid to put topically on the swelling to see if there is some reaction. If not he wants to cut it off next week. Is it possible that it is a tumour? He did not have anything the day before...could it appear so suddenly? Is it common in the mouth? If anyone has opinions please please write to me. I am terrified that he may have something serious and that I may not have proper vet assistance as ferrets are not common here. Thanks in advance to all that will help.
